Understatements made the biggest statements as this manicure season flaunts pretty, wearable lacquer shades in neutral flesh tones. And so it's official: Nude is in.
Creamy shades of soft beige, pale pink and milky white that mimic the look of the natural nail were seen at many Spring's fashion shows, including 3.1 Phillip Lim and Monique Lhuillier.
But nude polish is optional if you're after a truly au-naturel look: Just follow the lead of Balmain's manicurist Anny Errandonea, who skipped the polish altogether and instead painted buffed nails with a single coat of clear, matte top coat.
After seasons of bold colors and dark polishes, the emphasis on minimalist, neutral manicure is a welcome change. There's a lot to love about the nude nail trend -- not only is it low maintenance, it also goes beautifully with any skin tone: The trick is to choose a shade close to the color of your natural nail bed. Rock the nude trend with a rounded nail shape that visually elongates your hands.
