Christina Hendricks Flaunts Her Curves At The Emmys

She looked charmingly elegant on the red carpet in a flowy lavender Zac Posen gown.

Los Angeles, CA, United States (AHN) - She may have lost in the Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series category at the Emmys, but Christina Hendricks still looked charmingly elegant on the red carpet in a flowy lavender Zac Posen gown.

Before the awards show, however, Hendricks lamented how even though the public and even those in Hollywood are huge fans of curvaceous office manager Joan Holloway on the hit AMC drama Mad Men, sometimes it's still hard to get a dress for the show.

"It is difficult come awards season, and I need to find a gown to walk down the red carpet in, and there are only size zeros and size twos available," she told Glamour magazine. "Then it becomes downright annoying because all these designers are saying, 'We love Mad Men, we love Christina, but we won't make her a dress.'"

The actress is a size 12, the average size of the American woman. Previously, she's worn designs by L'Wren Scott and Christian Siriano.

"People have been saying some nice, wonderful things about me. Yet not one designer in town will loan me a dress," Hendricks, 35, told the Scottish newspaper The Daily Record. "They only lend out a size 0 or 2. So I'm still struggling for someone to give me a darn dress."

Luckily, Posen came through, and Hendricks was able to celebrate Mad Men's wins in a dress that fit her.

The recent spokesmodel for London Fog, at 39D-30-39, the actress says she's never felt any pressure to change her appearance, though she's been asked to lose weight, and is glad having an hourglass figure has become sexy in Hollywood.

"This has always been my size. I've worked on other shows with this same size but Mad Men celebrates it and that is nice."

Perhaps with Mad Men's popularity and more people taking notice that a former "big girl" is actually sexy in photographs -- and a popular cover girl for men's magazines -- women will stop attempting to be the size of a waif and embrace their size and who they are.
