When we were starting out this business and trying to put together the show, That's A Star, here is the general negative feedback of most Singaporeans I have talked to:
Singapore's entertainment celebrity will never mature because:
1. Singaporeans are not talented.
2. Singaproeans are not that good looking.
3. Singaproeans cannot sing.
4. Singaporeans cannot dance.
5. Singaproeans cannot act.
6. Singaporeans cannot perform.
I am beginning to think, they are right.
If you think otherwise, PROVE THEM WRONG! Go out there and show the world what Singaporeans are really made of.
You can watch how the future celebrities of Singapore are being groomed... Or you can join them in the training. Audition for the show.

i think you're wrong.
not all singaporeans cannot sing and don't dare to perform.
why not look at it this way instead, singapore has very little chances for talented people to perform.

Ya, and Singaporeans themselves are not receptive enough to their fellow performers.
Dey roll their eyes on locals n drool over Taiwanese, Japanese..

I think you might as well try your luck at other countries.
It IS hard to get famous in singapore.
They have talent scouts in USA /france/UK....etc
to look for potential models and actors.
And you got to admit,it's hard to find a really good looking pure singaporean):

I don agree that S'pore has no talent. Is just that our entertainment is a lot smaller compared to the rest. If there are no local talent how about stefanie sun, JJ lin? they are doing very well =)

i do not think singaporeans are not talented (cannot act, dance, sing). maybe there are little talents but it is understandable according to our population.
besides, in singapore, the showbiz is not seen as a potential career. most talented ppl prefer to stick to their "proper" jobs to earn money and their talent (like if they are gd at dancing) as leisure activity.

i think it's not a matter of not being talented, but rather the environment, culture, upbringing, education doesn't even encourage talents.
people are made to study, work, and be in a rat's race..not to be talented in different roles and markets..
