oh ya, just thought of another option exclusively for moderators and admins..

the alert opt-in feature..(optional)

we have the option to be receive an email alert of any newly created threads in sls, so we don't need to screen through the full forum list, and be immediately zoom into the new list and delete them instantly when checking mail.

the other thing is to encourage and reward loyal sls forum users over one-time sls users in the form of points since they can claim for stuffs when quota is met..

perhaps 1.5X of what new user is getting.

and 2X for loyal users with frequent reporting of constructive posts, that helps to keep sls in proper condition?

the daily traffic is moderate on most days. since i visit sls every few hours, the active topics link is adequate for me to see new posts/threads. no need special alert or wat, such will just junk up my email account.

i have stopped reporting certain type of offenders for banning. i just try to roughly remember the nicks. this helps me zoom in quickly on bad posts by repeat offenders. eg. ah here is member yibei again...with his moncleir adverts haha.
experience has shown dat for this genre of offenders, banning em is no use, they will simply come back under new account after a suitable time break. and there is no fast way for me to spot the bads when i aint chummy with their new nicks.

-------------------------------------------

i hope the current crop of regular members can "report post" those break rule posts outta own voliation and gdwill (like it was in the gd old days). ie, without lure of tangible goodies.

but if boss is in favour of report-reward system, there must be a way to stop members from reporting themselves. you just know there will be some hard up peeps who will create seperate accounts to post bad stuff, reporting those bad stuff under their main account and earning rewards dat way.

I did mention about the email opt-in feature isn't it? that's to prevent the flooding of inbox, since i am currently flooded by another site's system.

to anti-flood the inbox, perhaps we can have a list of newly created threads for review as a additional option. (since we can view active topics by duration)

i've learn over time that blacklist/banning really don't works, thus lately for the last few months, i didn't talk report much as like when I am still considered "new" moderator previously.

as for the report-reward system, to prevent/greatly reduce and minimize double account sign-up, perhaps include Credit-Card & Name verification to deter cheapskate users than

but credit-card-verification users feature is only applicable if SLS business model changes to promote revenue growth model which i'm in no position to talk since i'm just a volunteer.

alternative way is for postal/in-person NIRC verification at SLS office and forum user's particulars will be kept by the company.

to prevent double account signups, for points claiming, just request users to verify that they are a real person either by phone/email (immediate response type) with a manual verification process..if credit card verification is out of the question.

as for preventing of double registration : use IP address verification system la, since forum has the service built in feature as most of forums standard practice, but to match and check against existing user's registered and last few used ip address, i think it is a advanced feature that needs to be manually configured.

i've highlighted 1 example of accomplice user with same motive in the suspending thread (it's the same IP address / the screenshots i saved in my own computer shows they are sharing common IP address) than I reported and requested for suspending of user in that situation.
