hi all there are quite a few jap restaurants out there.
sakae sushi, ichiban, sushi tei, MOF...etc

which one do you think is the best?

if talking about price, i would say sakae, MOF
but quality, i would say sushi tei

If you want reasonably priced sushi, it should be suki. As for sakae, it's slightly more expensive but they are VERY STINGY with their ingredients. Grossly stingy! You eat their sushi all you can taste is the rice..

Sushi tei is good, has quality food. One of the best is Kuriya at Great World City, nice ambience and great food, but pricey

Ramen Play is not nice at all! the soup base is super oily.

for sushi, i would say ichiban and itacho sushi at Ion. Sakae is super stingy and the ingredients they use are not fresh.. tried dining there for a few times and i always ended up with food poisoning.

Itacho sushi are abit pricey but the quality of the food is worth it.

for sukiyaki, etc, i would say restaurant hoshigaoka at shaw house.. i love their sukiyaki..

I've been going to Marutama for my ramen fix lately, and brought my mum and other friends there.

Feedback has been mostly positive so far.

Besides the ramen, the side dishes like the grilled char siew (4 pieces served with lemon and chilli flakes) and the omelette (6 rectangular cubes, slightly sweet and served with radish) are quite nice.

Try Megumi along East Coast Road. The food there is nice and they have specialty like foie gras teriyaki and wagyu beef. Not too expensive too!

I heard Kui Shinbo is a really good jap rest. altho i haven't tried it out yet. Its buffet is at $20 plus during noon time and $30 plus at nite cos of the crab that they offer. I'm so going to try it soon! :)
