bb, i have seen cs offering several fo brushes but only one type in stock at the moment for usd7.95 (before shipping).
alternatively, check out ebay, likely can find sama brush for sama cost (including shipping somemore)...suspect same made in china sources anyway.

generally, for achieving higher coverage, go for those synthetic haired dense flat top or kabuki and apply using buff method.
fibre optics are usually floofy n floppy, not dense at all so imo more suited for finishing powders where a lite veil of application is preferred or for better control of highly pigmented blushes.
i googled for ingredient list for the mary kay...Ingredients:
Talc , Zea Mays (Corn) Starch , Zinc Stearate , Dimethicone , Boron Nitride , Zeolite , Methylparaben , Sorbic Acid , Ethylene/Methacrylate Copolymer , Propylparaben , Tetrasodium EDTA , Isopropyl Titanium Triisostearate , BHT , Iron Oxides , Mica
as suspected, its those ahem "mineral" makeup.
(still i am surprised not to see td or zo)
there's talc, cones, polymers blah blah so technically, this should not be much different from conventional makeup. perhaps application tool n method not as crucial?

Olaf, thanks for the advise.
the mary kay mineral powder is ok, nothing to rave about. i like its incredibly fine milled, making it easier to pick up and buff onto the skin.
are u still using Meow mineral powder?

not surprised, there is no td nor zo (denser less fluffy powders) and the main first ingredient is talc. talc is usually fine, smooth, silky, has slip and adhesion, presses well, really an all rounder which is why its so popular as main filler in conventional makeup. though talc is a mineral, most staunch mmu formulators have chosen to stay away from it due to certain reasons.
no not using meow. i have been strictly using olafs foundation n finishing powder for some time now hehe.
