I have recently subscribed to Singnet's Broadband On Mobile for 1 MBPS at only $15.69 (inclusive of gst) per month. This is a promotional rate. Quite cheap right? I thought the speed at 1 MBPS will be very slow, but really it is surprisingly okay for moderate surfing.

mine is 2Mbps and paying abt 17 bucks. From M1. As this is a mobile BB, so the connection and speed varies from location to location as per your handphone.
Of coz, there are ways to increase your speed if you know how as there are some technical loopholes on certain brands of the mobile BB they provides. For example, if i bypass the software module provided by M1 and manually configure my connection type, i could boost my connection speed to 7.2Mbps, the maximum speed my device could support.

There are a few catches when it comes to mobile internet speed. You have to read the thing properly. it doesn¡¯t say anything about 1MBPS all the time, it will tell you that it is based on best effort basis and it is UP TO 1 MBPS and not telling you that you will get 1MBPS all the time. Everyone should take note of this before signing up and deals. And I believe nowadays there are many shops providing free wifi service.

Does the mobile you are using count in getting good speed? I was wondering as I have booked a new mobile from an online shop and its make is Chinese and now hoping to get it in couple of days. I will try to get some cheap mobile internet service in my country and also would like to check services in other countries when I travel there. Does singnet's mobile services support chinese mobiles? Anyone here know about that?
