My six-month-old baby has been having colds for about five days now. During the first two days, we can tell she was feeling very bad, because she was less jolly, and is very irritable, and doesn't sleep well. We were about to take her to the pediatrician for checkup, but on the third day, though she still has the colds, her usual happiness and activity was back, as though she's not minding the colds at all. This is good, but we were wondering why the colds won't leave her. As much as possible, we want to treat her with home remedies, rather than doctor-prescribed drugs. Since I am (sort of) breastfeeding her during the night, I make it a point to drink lime juice before I go to bed, thinking that she might get the vitamin C from the juice that I had just taken when she feeds on my breast.
Will anyone advice me if this is correct thinking? Does anyone know any effective home/herbal remedies that we can try for her colds?
