to learn what is love, you first have to learn what is like..

the difference of like and love..

than only can you understand the differences and types of love..

Love towards are as follows:

- country
- family
- your future husband/wife
- your future/soon-to-be children/kids
- your elders
- your friends
- your religion
- your interests/hobbies
- your passion
- charity work, non-profit organization etc..

nonetheless, there is a basic before anybody can learn the truth of love..

if you don't learn to love yourself first, you can never learn nor appreciate how to love others.. (by sharing and spreading your love to many others who didn't experience it)

I've been hearing it everywhere these days.. Love yourself before u can love others. What if I just can't do that? Does that mean I'm unable to love others wholeheartedly?

My understanding of "to love yourself before u can love others" is that understand who yourself is, accepting yourself and change for better, etc. Everyone should love his/herself. Of course, the love from family, friends and other sources will enhances what true love is. With these elements, this will support in spreading love to others too.

love is nothing more than protecting what you love from keeping it out of harm's way.

by protecting means to take care of oneself first, only when a person knows how to protect themselves than only can they share the love to others...

examples like after marriage, the couple are supposed to take care of both parents and in-laws..if not those with/out kids, will share their love with pets..

it is also considered as a life-time commitment

There's a sentence which strikes a cord..

"One who has loved truly, can never lose entirely."

Quoted from Think & Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill.

If you really have being in real love, than perhaps you may have felt the same feelings before.

Love is ever 'giving'... so when 2 parties are in love, they give unconditionally, without any expected returns. Thus, if one party is always receiving, the relationship becomes unbalance...

Is this not true during 'honeymoon' period in a relationship?

when you start to have a family with kids and taking care of parents, parents in law, you might not think about this kind of love..

by than, it is already more of a responsibility..but you still need to find love in between to keep yourself moving forward to provide for them..that's when you learn the real meaning of love..

actually it is nothing more than protecting you, your partner, family and kids from harm..
