u have dried flakey bits on ya lips? if so, give ur lips a gentle exfoliation treatment first. simple recipe can be just sugar + oil. or use a very very soft bristled toothbrush.

after scrubbing away the dead skin, watever lip treatment u apply should absorb better. for personal reasons, i prefer balms made from natural waxes n oils/butters over mineral oil, petrolatum based balms.

sometimes dry lips may be due to lack of hydration instead. if urs is such a case, u may benefit from applying water rich pdt first, let absorb a bit, then apply balm to seal.

I like the idea of lipbalm but i will have to apply every 2-3 hrs cause since whenever i drink or eat something, the balm gets eaten and im left with rough lips again. thats why i feel the root of the problem is not solved just by applying lipbalm.

In addition, i tried gentle exfoliation. its works because my lips feels less rough but after a while, lips just wrinkled again despite having used lipbalm.

Hmm, what is a water rich pdt? and how to know which products are water rich? Besides, I dont really think its a problem of lack of hydration because my lower lip is fine.

Could it be a scar on my lip? Because if i remember correctly, i hurted my upper lip before with something sharp yrs ago.

Thanks for the advice. Really appreciate it:)

water rich just means high in water content (ie. bulk % of ingredients are water based). look at ingredient list, texture etc.

if u really think its scar tissue causing ur roughness, hmmm perhaps look for treatment w healing properties?

generally, lip balms will make your lips dryer. i only apply lip balm 3x a day now.

ok, thanks for all comments and advice! I do not have rough lips now!
And, i have to add, the body shop lip butter is really great. what i did was apply a generous layer before i sleep. the next day, i realised my lips were less dry. i used it for two nights. IT REALLY WORKED:D

Now, i just use lipbalm in the days, but i try not to overuse since im afraid of making them even dryer again. (thanks to cecilia446 for the informative article)

THANKS ALOT AGAIN:D
