For those shopaholics,

If you end up near Siam Sq/MBK at night, about 9pm or later, go to the train station bridge outside MBK. Got pasar malam there at night, very nice stuff and can bargain very easily. Look out for mini movie poster magnets @10bht ea. Great yet cheap souvenirs for friends. I got the entire Star Wars and LOTR set for my brother.

In my opinion, MBK pasar malam is much better than Pat Phong or Chit Lam night market. More street wear than fake goods. Those intested in cartoon clothes/bags should not give it a miss.

Located on the 37th floor of the Sofitel Silom Hotel this stunning bar offers some amazing views of Bangkok. The restaurant / bar specialises in wines and because of the novel concept of combining a wine shop with the bar, you can enjoy these wines from all over the world at some of the best prices in Thailand. A bottle of wine starts at around 500 Baht and if you are unsure of what to choose (the choice is very large and varied) then there is a resident Sommelier on hand to give you tips and suggestions. Open from 6pm to 1am this is an excellent place to entertain or just go for a nice relaxing drink, live music is played nightly. The bar is not just about wine though, as there is also a small and spacious restaurant within which serves some excellent food. V9 is a wonderful place to go out, enjoy excellent food, great wines all at very reasonable prices, and enjoy the night lights of Bangkok some 37 floors beneath you. A great place to go as a couple. Opening hours : 17:30-01:00

bing..this place that u mention rite...is it open aired or enclosed restaurant...? the one i saw on tv rite its open air one.....

Hi there..

I'm going to BKK next Thurs, my first trip there, and i got lotsa tips from this forum. Thanks people.

Just wondering if we can come out with a list of places that we can forget about going since its a "carrot" place for tourists? I've got 2 places (recommended by friends)
Patpong
Lumpini night market

By the way, what do you people wear while shopping there? I'm thinking of wearing denim shorts there.. is it advisable?

I worn denim short and tank top most of the time in BKK. Worn jeans and tank top only when i was on the flight (must look presentable mah).
