the moment you decide to put on any permanent tattoo, you are killing your skin cells..the largest organ of our body.

all tattoo covered skin are already dead, thus they cannot repair themselves, and requires regular maintenance like applying moisturizer etc.

Sounds scary.. Skin already dead! some ppl have most of their body in tattoos! Saw this couple with tattoos all over the hands and neck as well. The guy even had tatoos across the face.. A bit creepy. Only their kid.. Is clean.. But who knows.. Maybe not for long.

just be more observant and you'll know that the dead skin be saved..

it is permanent..

look at the people with many years of tattoo, the tattoo color are extremely bright when it's new due to alive skin.

after a few months, the tattoo color starts to fad, faster, the skin becomes run, as the skin covered with tattoo are dead and cannot reproduce new cells to maintain the fresh new look, thus the reason why moisturizer is a must for all users effectively after a new one is drawn on the skin.

during my ns period, my bunk mates (the branch) i was posted to had a handful of tattooed individuals, so i get to observe them even if i don't like to look at them due to stay in rule.

doesnt fresh naturally tend to look more vibrant? take paint on a piece of canvas, oods are day 1 will look brighter, more intense than day 10000. aint nothing to do with canvas being alive and then dead.

common factors affecting why tatts fade and the degree :
time, uv exposure (use sunscreen!), improper initial aftercare (eg. using pdts containing petrolatum n the like, immediately going for a swim, a tan), type of ink used, skill of artist, etc etc.

merryjosen,
some common sense logical potential harm associated with getting inked i can think of :
- due to unsanitary condition of parlour or irresponsible practices of tattoo artist, there is increased potential risk of hepatitis, hiv etc
- u r inherently allergic to particular dyes used, material of needles
- discomfort during MRI scans (touch wood dat you should need such one day lar!)
- pigments used contain carcinogens
- and of cos if you suffer from underlying medical condition like diabetes or haemophilia, getting pricked is a no-no. be it tattoo-ing or other forms of invasive body art like piercings, branding (now dats extreme - reminds me of slavery n torture!).

"What precautions we can take during the same."...er sorry catch no ball what you are writing.

another thing just came to my mind..

i'm not sure myself if the skin can be revived when people go to laser off their tattoos. angelina jolie is a regular when it comes to changing tattoos..

but it will hurt even more when removing than adding.

Why are there so many people tattoos nowadays? For fun or in fashon? It's really a torture to do so and removing it.... Wondering will they regret next time...

it just shows their level of maturity mentally.

without using their brains, instead relying on brawn..

to scare people off, putting on a fake identity hiding behind their tattoos fearing others to comment on their inferior inside..

not wanting to be judged, thus putting on tattoos as a statement..

Angelina Jolie is an exception la, for her tattoos are commitment to her husband that she changed couple of times already by now.

There are also some small minority of tattoo individuals that i do salute, those images of creative art.

wow i didnt consider that tattoo can actually "kill" the skin. i always thought that ppl want to have tattoo for the name of art or personal beliefs etc..
I can never fail. Unless I stop trying...

I don't know how to describe the physical harm, tatto in my opinion is a thing that i will never touch. Parents give u complete and good skin, why to change and alter?
