4. Don't send the wrong message

Word your profile carefully. "Don't make sexually explicit comments unless you're looking for a relationship that is sexually oriented," cautions MacGowan. Ambiguous or suggestive comments send mixed messages, and these can attract the wrong men.

5. Don't rake up the past

You'll risk sounding like a drama queen with a lot of emotional baggage -- even if you've learned a lot from the experience. "For example, if you suffered from major depression but have recovered, save that information for later," adds MacGowan. Also, avoid talking too much about your previous relationships -- it makes your date think that either you're not over your ex, or you're trying to make him jealous.
