Q&A

"Another Woman Likes My Husband"

Question:

From what my husband told me, a female colleague has been acting really nice to him, buying him lunch, etc. It's obvious she's interested in him, although he reassures me they're just friends. I know our marriage is strong, but still I can't help but worry. What should I do?

It's normal to feel concerned; statistics show the workplace to be a hotspot for infidelity that often started out as casual friendships. But, more importantly, research also shows that most men have affairs because they are emotionally dissatisfied in their marriage.

The good news is, your marriage is on solid ground, and you know it. Still, sometimes that closeness of his friendship at work can seem threatening to you and your partner's relationship.

What you can do is have a heart-to-heart with your husband. Tell him how much you love him and let him know your concern about this female colleague in question. Explain that you understand a marriage should be built on trust, and you trust him to set clear boundaries regarding the colleague.

Above all, rather than having misgivings about your partner, channel your energy into making your marriage even stronger and better than ever.

It takes on-going effort to keep a marriage strong, because couples tend to be so busy with the domestic routines that the romantic aspect of the relationship starts to take a backseat.

Which is why it's critical for you as a couple to keep expressing that feeling of love and gratitute for each other: Make time for each other, no matter how busy you are, thank him whenever he does something nice for you, and do something nice for him too. Daily little gestures of love like these are reminders of why he married you in the first place and form the glue to hold you together.

I wish you both the best of luck!
