Little things you can do to make your baby happier and healthier.

Second Trimester

(Weeks 13-28)


  • Go for a pre-natal massage. Although massage relieves stress and anxiety, experts say it's best to wait until the second trimester. It is also believed that massage releases oxytocin, the hormone associated with maternal love, so your baby feels good too!

  • Treat yourself to great food. Starting from about 14 weeks, your baby can taste what you eat through the amniotic fluid, so when you eat something yummy, your baby gets to savor it too!

  • Do gentle aqua exercises such as a few laps in the pool and gentle stretching exercises in the water to encourage optimal blood circulation to the foetus.

  • Watch a comedy. Recent studies have shown that stress experienced during pregnancy may affect the unborn baby as early as 17 weeks, with potentially harmful effects on brain and development. If you're feeling a little tensed, try watching a light-hearted movie: Laughter really is the best medicine.
