Characteristics: Mesomorphs have a naturally athletic body with a medium-sized frame and wide shoulders. This body type gives the least amount of resistance when it comes to weight training and because mesomorphs tend to gain muscle more easily, they can consume a reasonable amount of calories.

Your objective is to maintain your toned physique as well as sculpt lean muscles.

  • Diet Strategy: Although mesomorphs are blessed with taut, athletic build and have an efficient metabolism, it is still best to stick to a balanced diet. To maintain your muscle mass, consume 0.75 to 0.85 grams of protein per pound of body weight. Although you should also limit your fat intake, it should still constitute 20-30% of your total calories.

  • Training Strategy: Simply train to maintain your tone with light-to-moderate weight training done two to three times a week, and moderate to intense cardio workouts three to four times a week. You may want to try circuit training (moving quickly from one exercise to the next without a break) because it promotes strength and stamina without building bulk.
