Have a light bite before you shop
Shopping on an empty stomach is the number one reason women buy food they know they shouldn't. "If you shop when you're hungry, you tend to spend more because all food looks tempting," explains Sandra K. Nissenberg, registered dietician and co-author of Quick Meal Solutions.
So fuel up before you go: Have a light snack containing protein, fat and carbohydrates -- such as a peanut butter toast and a piece of fruit -- about half an hour before you hit the store.
