Ridges
PROBLEM: Ridges can make the nail surface dull-looking. Unfortunately, this problem is mostly genetic. Aging is also another contributing factor as nails tend to thicken, harden and develop ridges as we grow older.FIX: Smooth the ridged nail surface with a buffer and buffing cream. To coax extra shine, massage warm castor oil into the nails.
Nail Problem 3:
Yellowing
PROBLEM: Frequent polish use is the most common cause of nail discoloration. Darker colored polish can cause a chemical reaction between the coloring agent in the polish and the nail place, which stains the nails yellow. Yellowing can also be caused by chronic smoking or serious fungus infection - if you suspect it's the latter, do consult a doctor.FIX: Always apply a layer of base coat under your polish to prevent your nails from staining. If your nails are already discolored, you can whiten them by soaking your fingertips in a commercial denture cleaner or lemon juice for five to ten minutes.
