What Are Moles?
Moles are small bumps or areas on the skin with an overgrowth of pigment cells. They can be flat or raised, may appear black in color, brownish or flesh-colored, depending on the numbers of pigment cells within the moles.
Most moles appear on the skin before adulthood, especially during puberty. Many of them start out as flat spots, but may become raised or even develop hairs.
