Retinoids

What are retinoids and how they can improve acne.
PAGE: 1 of 3
Million of people suffer from acne breakouts young and old. If your doctor has you on topical or oral treatment and it is not working, you can consider retinoids to cure the breakouts.

What Are Retinoids?
Retinoids are a class of molecules in the vitamin A family of molecules, and are effective as anti-acne medications. Retinoids help normalize abnormal growth and death of cells in the sebaceous follicles and prevent comedone formation.

Topical Retinoids
There are a few types of topical retinoids, for example Retin-A, Differin and Tazorac. Topical retinoids are helpful for moderate to severe acne, especially when used early and in combination with benzoyl peroxide or antibiotics.

However, topical retinoids can have side effects, such as redness, dryness, peeling and itching of the skin in the areas of retinoid application.
