Yoga is not only about keeping fit, it is an ancient concept that incorporates philosophy and spirituality. Whether you're seeking a vigorous workout or a spiritual meditation, there's a Yoga discipline for you. Although all of the classes are based on the same poses, each has a particular emphasis. Here's a basic reference to the various popular styles of Yoga.

Vigorous Yoga
Vinyasa-style yoga combines a series of flowing postures with rhythmic breathing for an intense body-mind workout.
  • Ashtanga. Ashtanga is a vigorous and cardiovascular form of Yoga. A set series of poses is performed, always in the same order. Ashtanga practice serves as a moving meditation, and involves constant movement from one pose to the next.

  • Power Yoga. An energetic practice based on Ashtanga series which builds stamina, strength and flexibility.

  • Bikram / Hot Yoga. This style of Yofa is practiced in a 37.8 °C room, which allows for a loosening of tight muscles and profuse sweating, which is thought to be cleansing. Hot Yoga focuses on the process of creating the highest level of energy, vitality and mental awareness through invigorating workout.
