Styles of Yoga

Gentle Yoga
Gentle Yoga emphasizes on long stretches and flexibility, with slow, deep breathing (yogic breathing is known as Pranayama). This is the kind of mellow style of Yoga that can be very soothing for the mind.
  • Meditative Yoga. This style includes yoga postures, breathing and meditation for spiritual living.

  • Kripalu Yoga. Kripalu Yoga is a gentle, flowing style of Hatha Yoga and involves holding postures for a length of time and fluidly moving through their release. This practice uses postures, breathwork and meditation to connect the mind, body and spirit.

  • Iyengar Yoga. This style of practice is most concerned with precise poses and bodily alignment and involves the use of benches, blocks, ropes, mats and chairs. Iyengar practice usually emphasizes holding poses over long periods versus moving quickly from one pose to the next.
