Preventing Hot Tub Folliculitis
Showering after contact with contaminated water does not prevent infection.

To prevent hot tub folliculitis, the pH and chlorine need to be closely monitored in hot tubs and spas. Water should be changed frequently to retard the growth of Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Folliculitis is Contagious
Folliculitis may be spread from one person to another. Individuals suffering from folliculitis should wash their hands thoroughly and use separate towels and washcloths. They should not use a hot tub until the infection has cleared up.
